Share:
TweetRoaste Comedy presents its first 'Scratch Night' featuring a double bill of two local legends presenting previews of their brand new Edinburgh shows! These nights are perfect for comedy lovers who want to get involved in the creative process and enjoy the nuts and bolts of building a show, with these two acts workshopping new material and show structures as they hone their ideas ahead of the Fringe in 2027 - expect big laughs, big ideas, and a little bit of chaos...
Lineup: STEFFAN ALUN & CHRIS CHOPPING
STEFFAN ALUN
Winner of the Pegagus Award for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, the bisexual Welsh optimist returns with a brand-new hour of brilliant comedy.

CHRIS CHOPPING: HOW TO BE A DAD AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Chris Chopping loves being a comedian. Chris Chopping loves being a dad. But Chris Chopping never wanted to write a cutesy, toothless kids-say-the-funniest-things show. But maybe if you write that show against the backdrop of billionaires robbing the world, the rise of facism and a climate crisis that show gets a bit of its bite back? Very much a work in progress. As a comedian and a parent.
This is Chris first solo show since Chris Chopping's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a pithy, witty hour of comedy full of petty insecurities, impotent rage and a certain amount of erudite smut.
Winner – Newbury New Act of the Year
Winner – Bedford New Act of the Year
"A really good comic, tremendously clever in both his delivery and subject matter" - Metro
"Crafts clever jokes and delivers punchlines that the comedy savvy don't even see coming" - Shortcom.co.uk
Hosted by Joe Dehuai.

Great evening and will return! I haven't been to live comedy show before and it was very good fun and I got involved with the audience participation happily! There was Only one act I didn't really understand, but I think i was the wrong TA for that one so just one of those cases of 'you can't please all'. Venue was cool too, they just seemed ill prepared for an event, no hot chocolate, no chai, no vegan cakes :(

Great line up for a good cause. Shame the venue/layout wasn't really conducive to a comedy night, or maybe it was the audience who seemed to think it was ok to talk whilst the comedians performed, and noisily rustle crisp packets throughout... Maybe with a different layout and audience, I would recommend it... Rob Hughes and Costas were particular standout stand ups! :-)
