TweetWith UK comedy's largest cash prize of £10,001 at stake, hundreds of stand-up comedians applied to enter the inaugural British Comedian Of The Year Competition with only the very best making it through to the heats around the country. Unlike most stand-up competitions which are for new acts only, British Comedian Of The Year is open to everyone ranging from comedians who have appeared on Live At The Apollo to budding upstarts hoping to cause a 'giant-killing' as they go head-to head with their more experienced counterparts.
Each heat sees nine comedians performing their best ten minute set with a panel of expert judges deciding their fate alongside the audience themselves, whose vote counts for 50% of the total score. Yes you, the audience, have the power! The top two acts qualify for the semi-finals when they battle it out once more for a place in the Grand Final at London's famous Comedy Store on Weds 24 November.
