Mark Thomas : 40 in Stand Up Years ( Edfringe Preview / Work In Progress)
Mark Thomas celebrates 40 years at the mic. In that time, he has changed laws on tax, jailed arms dealers, kickstarted a comedy circuit in Palestine, given evidence before three Parliamentary select committees and taken the police to court three times and won. The world’s moving too fast to predict what the content will be. Expect a taster menu of government and personal mayhem, jokes, rants and a personal state of the nation broadcast. Join Mark as he tries to turn 'what the f*ck is going on' into a cogent hour of stand-up.
Don't miss chance to see a work in progress from the UK's finest political comedian & South London's finest -,the legendary Mark Thomas! Probably best known for the political stunts as performed on his cult Channel 4 show, The Mark Thomas Comedy Product , cult BBC Radio comedy show The Mary Whitehouse Experience , BBC Radio 4 Manifesto shows and his many award winning touring theatre shows. Mark won 8 awards for performing, 3 for human rights work and 1 he invented for himself.
“Thomas is a terrific performer and raconteur, and he has the gift of making an instant community out of a group of strangers.” – The Guardian
“You’ll leave recommitted to the fight against this appalling authoritarian government, to keep that tradition alive.”– The Guardian

Phil Nichol : Aren't We Lucky ( Edfringe Preview / Work In Progress)
Phil Nichol is a truly unique performer. An acclaimed actor, award winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician, there is no end to his talent! WINNER - Scotsman Fringe First Award 2011 WINNER - IF.COM Eddie Award 2006 (previously The Perrier, now known as the Edinburgh Comedy Award) WINNER - Time Out Best Comedy Performer. As seen on The Graham Norton Show, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Altitude Festival , The World Stands Up, Comedy Shuffle, and many more. 'Attacks his material with all the restraint of a Tasmanian Devil in a foghorn factory' (The Times)
‘Aren’t We Lucky’ is a dynamic, wonderfully heart-warming story exploring chance, love, magic, and loss. Through the deeply personal yet funny story of his friend Kevin Hearn’s battle with leukemia, and the extraordinary chain of events that followed, Phil reflects on regret, good fortune, and the simple, visceral act of appreciating what we have right here, right now.
The ever-present magic of reality fuels this show, as Phil shares high-octane, hilarious and unforgettable stories: growing up in the Brethren Assembly, moving from Glasgow to Toronto, becoming a world-renowned comedian, and witnessing his parents fall in love again in their nineties. From conspiracy theories to Lou Reed, from World War II to old-age pensioners, and even the now-banned Swedish word “ogooglebar,” no subject is off-limits. These rib-tickling threads collide with bigger questions about why we’re here—and how to make the most of it.
Ever randomly met a woman on her way home after visiting her murderer boyfriend in prison, while her husband remains oblivious back in Norwich? Phil has. Lucky. Ever struck up a conversation on the Tube with an elderly man who crewed one of only five tanks to land in France on D-Day and survive the entire war? Phil has. Lucky. Ever tried to make Anne Robinson laugh on The Weakest Link by getting naked after being voted off in the final rounds? Phil has. Lucky. Why do we play the lottery? Life itself is a lottery—and you’re already winning.
“…beautifully crafted…a show that makes you laugh and think while you are watching, and then wakes you up in the night to laugh and think again.” THE SCOTSMAN *****
“…the sheer energy he exudes in the forceful, sweat-drenched performance pumps life into any audience.” CHORTLE ****
“.. not just comedy but soul-quenching storytelling at its finest.” EDINBURGH FESTIVAL MAG *****

Great show. Every comic was different but really funny. Walsh was much better than I thought he was going to be. Glad I went
